Glencoe Country Club
August 6 began the fall season for Ladies’ League.  The game, won by Linda Delagardelle,
was the shot over the pond that landed closest to the pin.  The group playing with Linda referred to
that shot as the “shot of the day.”  Linda was the only one to put her name on the sign out of the 20
ladies who played.  Way to go Linda!  On August 13th it was Colin’s choice for the game, and he
chose closest to the pin on hole #9 with the 3rd shot.  Joslin Thiemann, with a dynamic shot, landed
her ball very close to the pin to win that game.  A second game was also on hole #9 and that was
longest putt.  Sheila Erpenbach nailed a great putt to take that honor and won.  Our Ladies’ League
Tournament was scheduled for August 20, but the much-needed rain forced a cancellation.  Those
with the first 3 tee times that day did arrive at the club wondering what the decision would be.  When
the cancellation was agreed upon, we all phoned those who had signed up to play to let them know
of the change.  Then several ladies did notice the skies clearing and went out to play a few holes.
As the next wave of the storm hit, the ladies knew the decision had been for the best.  The course
was very wet and many holes were nearly unplayable.     We rescheduled the league tournament
for the following week, August 27.  Twenty seven ladies played the 9 hole tournament.  The results
were as follows:

      CHAMPIONSHIP FLIGHT                   1st FLIGHT
      1st – Sheila Erpenbach                        1st – Donna Stuewe
      2nd – Joslin Thiemann                         2nd – Katy Scrimgeour
      3rd – Marce Selvey                               3rd – Luann Hanson

      2ND FLIGHT                                        3RD FLIGHT
      1st – Colleen Wilkins                         1st – Deb Klaustermeier
      2nd – Mary Kohr                                 2nd – Carol Carver
      3rd – Cookie Lehtinen                       3rd – Lori Harms

Congratulations to all!

The Ladies’ Club Tournament was held on August 29.  Our congratulations go to Marce
Selvey as the GCC ladies’ champion.  That makes the 4th time Marce has won that prestigious
honor.  How great is that!

We just have three more weeks of official ladies’ league left.  September 3 and 10th are regular
play weeks.  The schedule does mention that September 10 is a shotgun, but it is not.  We just
have the new “favorite” Bingo game.  All ladies are welcome to play on Thursdays, whether in
league or not.  The weekly game is open to all ladies too.  Remember to make a tee time and sign
up for the dinner.

Thought for the month:

Golf is good for the soul.  You get so mad at yourself you forget to hate your enemies.
Thursdays are for Ladies
