Glencoe Country Club
On September 17, the Ladies League sadly concluded their season.  As was true of every
Thursday this month, we had beautiful, warm, sunny weather.  Our event, or almost non-event, was
a 2 person, 3 club scramble.  The kicker was – no rules.  Some chose to play just a regular round;
one group chose to omit hole 8 and give themselves a par.  Another group played with only the 6
clubs, but shared them and another group recorded their score, only subtracted one on each hole.
Following play, we enjoyed the appetizers everyone brought to share.  All were delicious and some
recipes will need to be shared!!

On September 3, the winner of the game “criers” was Colleen Wilkins.   Her only cry was
“Hooray!”  The three holes she scored poorly on were replaced with pars, giving her the low winning
score.  Bingo was the game on September 10.  Luann Hanson had 4 Bingos on her card to be the
winner.  That meant she had both great shots and got in trouble enough to mark off those squares
on her card.

Awards for the Fall Season team winners were given out on our last evening.  The 1st place
team included Mary Kohr, Joyce Ramige, Lee Starr, Luann Hanson, and Carol Dammann.  The
2nd place team included Karen Benson, Sheila Erpenbach, Katie Scrimgeour, and Kari Dose.
The 3rd place team included Tona Kerslake, Marce Selvey, Joslin Thiemann, Colleen Wilkins,
and Karen Chastek.

Congratulations to all these winners, and to all the ladies who won at any time during the
Ladies’ League season and during the club tournament.   Thanks to all who provided the
scrumptious desserts during the season.

The 33 ladies on league would extend an invitation for many more to join in the fun next season.
Until then, play until the snow flies, and/or they kick us off the course!!

Final Thoughts:
      -  The less skilled the player, the more likely he/she is to share ideas about a golf swing.
      -  Hazards attract; fairways repel.
      -  A good drive on the last hole has stopped many a golfer from giving up the game.
      -  Go out and have fun.  Golf is a game for everyone, not just for the talented few.
